Instructions for Presenters

AV Technology in Tampere Hall Auditoriums

The lecture halls are equipped with a PC running the Windows operating system and a Full HD video projector with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The projector can also display presentation files made in a 4:3 aspect ratio without distortion. Additionally, the technical equipment includes a Logitech Presenter (clicker) that can be connected to the computer.

The computers are equipped with, among other things, Microsoft Office 2021, Open Office, Adobe Reader, VLC Player, Teams, Zoom, and the most common web browsers. Logging in to Teams, Zoom, or similar applications must be done using the customer's own credentials.

The computer is connected to the hall's sound system.

The customer is responsible for logging out of any programs they have used. They are also responsible for deleting any files they have downloaded to the computer.

File formats

  • PowerPoint: We recommend embedding the fonts directly into your PowerPoint file. You can find instructions for embedding fonts at the following link: Benefits of embedding custom fonts
  • You can also present your presentation in PDF format.
  • Our computers do not have the Keynote application used by macOS systems.
  • For video playback, the computers are equipped with VLC Media Player, which supports a wide range of formats. However, we recommend converting video files to MP4 format (with H.264 compression).

Delivering material to the Tampere Hall presentation computer

We primarily recommend using the presentation computer available in the hall, in which case presentation files should be delivered to the lecture hall’s presentation computer via a USB stick.

Please make sure to deliver the material on a USB stick to the lecture hall computer well in advance of your presentation, for example, on the morning of your lecture day or at the latest during the break preceding your presentation.

Using your own computer as the presentation device

If, for any reason, using the lecture hall’s computer as the presentation device is not possible, we ask the presenter to deliver a replacement computer to the hall technician well in advance. A suitable lead time, depending on the situation, could be the preceding break or the preparation time in the morning. This allows us to ensure the computer is compatible with our presentation equipment and to make any necessary adjustments to its settings.

To connect a customer’s computer to the hall’s presentation system, it must have an HDMI output for an external display. Tampere Hall provides commonly used adapters, but we kindly ask you to bring your own adapter that supports this connection as a precaution.
